Our Heritage Of Excellence

Our Journey | CH Logistics South Africa since 2005

From humble beginnings to a leader in perishable logistics, our story is one of innovation, dedication, and continuous growth in South African supply chain solutions.

A Vision Takes Root

2005

Founded in 2005 by Christian Helms (Bremen, Germany) as part of the globally active CCG AG, CH Logistics was established with a clear mission: to revolutionise perishable goods supply chains in Southern Africa. Christian brings over 4 decades of global logistics expertise to the company. His career embodies the perfect blend of entrepreneurial spirit and international logistics experience that shaped CH Logistics‘ foundation. Under the exceptional leadership of Cape Malay businessman Shameeg Emeran (2005-2021), CH Logistics flourished. His strategic vision initially focused on sea freight exports to the UK, before expanding globally.

By 2007, our air freight activities was launched, marking another milestone in our growth.

2007
2015

The establishment of our Durban branch in 2015 significantly enhanced our capabilities, particularly in handling perishable exports from South Africa's northern regions. This strategic move strengthened our position in port operations and efficiency.

CH Logistics is now led by Matthew van Diemen, who joined us in 2020 in finance before becoming CFO in 2023. Based on his expertise in innovative solutions and broad industry knowledge.

2020
2021

Following Shameeg’s untimely passing in January 2021, Henry Helms, son of our founder, seamlessly took the helm. His specialised dual studies in fruit trade, combined with his innovative approach, helped maintain our momentum. Under his leadership until September 2024, the company continued to thrive and expand.

Since October 2024 Benjamin Burger alongside Matthew van Diemen, drive the operational excellence of our company. At the same time, Christian Helms serves as Interim CEO, bringing over 40 years of industry expertise. His regular presence between Germany and South Africa ensures strategic guidance for our growing team.
